The "Sylvania Welcomes You" signs reference Ephesians 4:5 -- "One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism" -- and include the name of the town's mayor, Mitchell Dendy.
In a letter to Dendy, Freedom From Religion Foundation staff attorney Patrick Elliott said the signs "affiliate the government with one religion, Christianity, and exclude others.
"The endorsement of the tenets of one religion on government signs is unconstitutional," Elliott wrote. "No court would uphold this blatant violation of the Constitution."
